The SWIC/SIUC night featured a majority of events centered around exposing students to the possibilities of higher education. At the event, there were many organizations from the SWIC and SIUC. There were members from admissions representing both colleges. Students and parents alike stopped by the tables set up outside the gymnasium to talk with the admissions counselors and browse the brochures that were provided.

Rally towels were handed out to the first 250 fans that attended the game. There were also approximately 30 prizes that were handed out during the games. The prizes ranged from: gift baskets to t-shirts and sweatshirts to folding chairs to a $50 savings bond. There was a raffle drawing to determine the winners.

The Saluki Pep Band, the Shakers Dance Team, and the Saluki Cheerleaders were all present to perform. There were between 45 and 50 students from SIU who came to donate their time.

The pep band was on hand during the entire night, performing songs to get rally the crowd. The Shakers were present, although only four members were in attendance due to rehearsal for a competition that they had to prepare for. They performed a few routines with the Saluki Cheer Team and the Steeleville High School Cheer Team. During the Varsity game half time, the Saluki Cheer Team joined forces with the Steeleville Cheer Team to create an elaborate pyramid. Also during halftime, members of the Steeleville community who were alumni of SWIC/SIUC were recognized.

Before the games, a dinner was hosted by the Steeleville Dance Team. It was a community dinner and donations were accepted at the door. It was held before the JV basketball game. At half time, during the Junior Varsity game, the Steeleville Junior Warriors held a five minute basketball game.

After the festivities were over, a meal was provided for the ravenous SIU students. The meal was provided by: Andy and Glenn Gerlach, Stephanie Diercks, Dave's Food Center, Steeleville Eagles, and the Steeleville Booster Club.
