BOYS BASKETBALL: Falcons crush Egyptian, lose close one at Cobden

The Falcons split a pair of weekend road conference games, winning big at Egyptian 74-47 before dropping a close one at Cobden, 63-59.

Elverado's offense was firing on all cylinders at Egyptian, as five different Falcons found their way into double figures. A 24-9 third quarter for EHS was the difference-maker, as the Falcons turned a 38-32 halftime lead into a 62-41 edge heading into the fourth.

Tyler Funk led all scorers with 19 points for Elverado against Egyptian. Luke Jones added 14, Justin Sarensen had 13, Alec Valerius and Sage Sarensen each had 12, and Roger Langguth and Joe Ralph both had two points.

After trailing 12-4 after the first quarter, Elverado was playing catch-up most of the night at Cobden on Saturday and just couldn't get over the hump in their four-point loss.

Valerius hit seven three-pointers to finish with a game-high 21 for EHS. Jones had 15, S. Sarensen 9, J. Sarensen 8, and Funk 6.

The Falcons (8-12, 1-5) head to Joppa this Friday night for another South Egyptian Conference battle.
