VOLLEYBALL: Lady Falcons improve to 3-0 with win over Chester

ELKVILLE, IL - Jenny Sarensen and Erika Will both had 10 kills for Elverado in the Lady Falcons' three-set win over visiting Chester on Tuesday night in Elkville. EHS is now 3-0 both overall and in conference play following the 25-21, 25-27, 25-20 victory.

"We came out strong the first game," said Elverado head volleyball coach Donette Wheatley, "we played lots of offense."

"We gave up too many unforced errors the second game and got away from playing our game, had match point twice and missed the serve both times. I like the way we handled the pressure and got back to playing our game in the third set."

Sarensen (5) and Will (3) also combined for eight blocks at the net while Meghann Trammel had 11 digs and Katy Abbadusky led assists with 13.

"We played well at the net defensively with 8 blocks," Wheatley said, "offensively all six players contributed with a least one kill."

Rebecca Korando had 4 kills, Trammel 3, K. Abbadusky and Cheyenne Abbadusky 1.

Elverado's junior-varsity team fell 25-22, 25-9 to the Lady Yellow Jackets, and the freshman team lost their first game of the season 25-19.

The Lady Falcons (3-0, 3-0) are on the road against Zeigler-Royalton on Wednesday, and at Crab Orchard on Thursday.

"We have got to play hard and have fun," said Wheatley. "That's how we are winning - the girls are having fun."
