GOLF: McDaniel wins A-J Tournament

ANNA, IL - Nine teams traveled to Union County Country Club in Anna Wednesday to compete for the Anna-Jonesboro Girls Golf McDonald's Tournament.

Pinckneyville's Heather McDaniel claimed first place individually, shooting an even-par 36 for nine holes at Union County Country Club in Anna.

The Lady Panthers finished fifth of the nine teams, playing without two of their top four golfers as both Olivia Mathis and Alexis Anderson were missing due to illness. Sarah Carlson (50), Ellie Carlson (60) and Britney Thomas (62) completed PCHS's score of 208.

Massac County shot 163 and took first place, while Eldorado (186) was second, Herrin (189) was third, Carmi (198) was fourth, Pinckneyville (208) was fifth, Anna-Jonesboro (209) was sixth, Marion (223) was seventh, Steeleville (238) was eighth and Carterville (243) was ninth.

Taylor Goodley of Eldorado was second with a 38, while Sami Weber of Massac County also shot 38 and took third. Ali Eickholz of Massac County shot 40 for fourth place and Peyton Helm of Massac County carded a 42 for fifth. Ryse Douthitt of Carmi was sixth with a 42, while Kristen Faulkner of Massac County was seventh with a 43.

Paige Ellerbusch of Massac County was eighth with a 45, Marion's Chelsea Capel was ninth with a 45 and Carterville's Adrian Brown shot a 46 for tenth place.

Pinckneyville (20-9) hosts Red Bud on Friday at Red Hawk Golf Club in their next girls match.
