GOLF: Nashville dominates boys' golf opener
Hornet golfers posted the five best scores at Wednesday's boys three-team match at Nashville, leaving Pinckneyville and Trico behind in a tie for second thirty-nine strokes back. Nashville's Chance Reuter outpaced everyone with his score of 35 on 9 holes.
Alec Brand was the top scorer for the Panthers with a 46. Kyle Brocaille (48), Jordan Grissom (52) and Will Travis (52) also contributed to Pinckneyville's team total of 198.
Jordan Harre was four back of medalist Reuter with a 39. Tyler Wall (40) and Brock Wuebbles (45) had the other two qualifying scores for the Hornets, who shot 159 as a group.
Pinckneyville was among several schools back in Nashville on Thursday for the girls invitational, but on the first hole of play the tournament was suspended by lightning before ultimately being postponed.
The Panthers host Du Quoin, Herrin and Waltonville at Red Hawk Golf Club on Friday in boys action, then both the girls and boys are at Herrin with Harrisburg and Benton on Monday.
