Hector Campos’ transformed home hailed as a Bright Spot
Keep Carbondale Beautiful is proud to honor Hector Campos as this month’s Bright Spot Award recipient for his dedication to transforming a once-neglected property at 422 E. Willow St. into a welcoming and vibrant home.
Inspired by his wife, Guadalupe, Hector began revitalizing their property eight years ago. What was once a house with “only windows, siding and doors” is now a warm and inviting space that reflects care and community pride. He added green bushes, roses and stone pillars to create a cozy front porch — turning a simple entrance into a family-friendly gathering space.
Hector takes pride in maintaining his yard year-round, ensuring that flowers bloom in every season. His motivation is simple yet powerful: “I like for it to look good.”
When asked why community beautification matters, Hector shared, “It looks better — and keeping things clean makes everything better for everyone.”
Hector said he plans to “keep going and doing the same things in the future.”
Keep Carbondale Beautiful presents the Bright Spot Award monthly to recognize local residents and businesses who enhance the community through landscaping, renovation and maintenance efforts.
