Paul Eugene Roberts Jr. of Johnston City

Paul Eugene Roberts Jr., 67, of Johnston City passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at home with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born on Monday, December 1, 1958, in Herrin, Illinois, a son of Paul Eugene and Margie Louise (Holloway) Roberts. He married Billie Jo Kendrick at Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church in Poordo, Illinois, on Aug. 31, 1987, and together they have shared over 38 years of marriage.

Paul was retired, having worked as a mechanic and auto body repairman for many years at area auto shops. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting various knives and other memorabilia. His favorite thing was to plant and care for a large vegetable garden every year. Paul often gave of his time and talent to help others.

Along with his wife, Billie Jo Roberts of Johnston City, he is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Ann (John) Hatchett of Marion; granddaughters Marlie, Caelyn and Lana Sine, all of Marion; brother Phil (Michelle) Roberts of Whiteash; and several nephews and nieces.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Pam McKnight, Sandi Hancock and Janice Lingle.

Graveside funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Family and friends visited from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at JCity Church. Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
