Shooting incident results in multiple arrests

A shooting incident Tuesday morning on North Wall Street resulted in multiple arrests.

Police responded at 2:16 a.m. Feb. 3 to the 1300 block of North Wall Street for a report of shots fired. Responding officers located shell casings and bullet strikes to a residence.

Officers contacted the resident, Judious Kizeart, and found that he was not injured. As the investigation continued, Kizeart was arrested on several charges. A search warrant was executed at the residence, resulting in the officers locating controlled substances and cannabis. Officers also located witnesses to the incident who provided a vehicle description and possible suspect information.

Officers and detectives continued their follow-up and eventually identified Kycho Parks, JaJuan Smith and Demarcus Jones as suspects involved in the shooting. Officers and detectives later located and arrested Parks, Smith and Jones in Carbondale. Officers also arrested Johnecia Kyles for her involvement in the shooting after the fact. All of the involved parties are known acquaintances. This investigation is active and ongoing.

Kizeart, Parks, Smith, Jones and Kyles were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail pending a bond hearing.
