Sandra Pursell

Sandra 'Jane' Pursell, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Jane had worked as an LPN at Marshall Browning Hospital for 24 years. She had also worked at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin. Jane was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born Feb. 1, 1945 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Carl A. and Mary E. (Heape) Porter.

She is survived by one son - Michael Pursell and wife Donna of Murphysboro, two daughters - Elizabeth Ann Pursell of Du Quoin and Melissa Pruitt of Carbondale, two grandchildren - Jessica Michelle Pursell and Harley Pursell, both of Murphysboro, two sisters - Pat Bechtlofft and husband Dennis of El Paso, Tex. and Connie Carney and husband Richard of Hillsboro, Ill., nephews and nieces and her two special dogs - Broady and Emmitt James.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews - Ronald Bechtlofft and Bryan Bechtlofft.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Juvenile Diabetes or the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
