Richard D. Winter

Richard D. Winter, age 88, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Richard was born July 30, 1926 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a son to Henry O. and Jessie (Perry) Winter. On July 18, 1948, Richard married Joan Feahrs in Carbondale, Ill., and she survives. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, Murphysboro, Ill. Richard worked as a farmer, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Russell (Barbara) Winter of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one daughter, Barbara E. (Michael) Winter Starmer of Missoula, Mont.; one step-brother, Jackie Robinson of Belleville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Carter, Ryan Winter, Alexis Dyer, Jennifer Winter, Natasha Winter, Stephany Winter and Hayley Winter; two great-granchildren, Kirsten Dyer and Andrew Lee Jett and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Winter; one brother in infancy, Fredrick Winter and one step-brother, Leonard Robinson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill.
