Stumpe, a physical education teacher at Chester Grade School K-8, noted that she wrote the book based upon experiences she had when her sister Joanna Baldwin would return from vacations and bring gifts to her children Ethan and Jessica.
"I was inspired to write Aunt Jo Jo's Magical Gifts when my twin sister, Joanna, brought gifts to my two children, Ethan and Jessica when she returned from vacation," explained Stumpe. "As I was watching them play with their gifts the idea hit me; why not have the gifts be magical!!"
Aunt Jo Jo's Magical Gifts begins when Aunt Jo Jo returns from her ocean cruise vacation and gives her young nephew, Ethan, a swimming mask. The gift turns out to be magical and wonderful, turning Ethan's back yard into a new underwater dimension when he wears the mask.
Minutes seem like hours when Ethan is encompassed in his backyard underwater adventure. Little Fish, Mustang and Miss Crabby show Ethan around this wonderland. To Ethan minutes seem like hours as the underwater creatures become his friends. There is even an evil reef monster that must be defeated in this adventure.
Stumpe is married to husband Scott Stumpe and both live in Chester, Illinois with their two children, Ethan and Jessica. Besides teaching physical education at Chester Grade School, Stumpe coaches cross country. In the spring she coaches track and field at Chester High School.
Stumpe intends to write a series of adventure books inspired by her stylish twin sister, Joanna and her habit of bringing back interesting gifts for her nephew, Ethan, six years old, and Jessica, three years old.
