PCHS Sets Policy for Mac Books

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The 2011-2012 school year was the first in which every Pinckneyville Community High School student has access to an Apple laptop computer for school use.

Use of the MacBook computers provided by PCHS is a privilege, not a right. The district&#39;s e-mail system, software, hardware and data files are owned and controlled by the school. Email is not private.

Users are asked to abide by the rules and practice network etiquette and to remember that the District reserves the right to access and disclose the contents of any email account on its system. without prior notice or permission from the account&#39;s user.

The acceptable use of electronic network policy adopted by the Dist. 101 Board of Education defines unacceptable use as any illegal activity, unauthorized downloading of software, copyright violations, using the network for financial gain, wasting resources, hacking, invasion of privacy, using another&#39;s account or password, posting others&#39; work without permission, posting anonymous messages, advertising and accessing, submitting, posting, publishing or displaying any defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, racially offensive, harassing or illegal material.

Network etiquette also includes basic internet safety such as not revealing personal information, including addresses and telephone numbers.

PCHS is in the process of restructuring the district&#39;s curriculum.
