<div class="PlainText">LaVerna Schwarz, 95, of Pinckneyville was called to her home in heaven at 8:50 a.m. on Good Friday, April 14, 2017, at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab in Pinckneyville.<br /> LaVerna was born March 1, 1922, in Pinckneyville, a daughter to Ernest G. and Hilda M. (Lampe) Beck. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Edgar D. Schwarz at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lost Prairie, and he preceded her in death June 9, 1994. LaVerna worked as a cook at Pinckneyville Community High School for 18 years. She had previously worked as a clerk and bookkeeper for Gruner Hardware Store in Pinckneyville. Upon retirement, she volunteered at the Perry County Jail Museum Quilting Club. LaVerna was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and being with her family.<br /> Survivors include her son, Edgar Dwayne (Susan) Schwarz of Pinckneyville; daughter Elaine (Reverend Jack) Belk of Brownstown, Ind.; one brother, Paul (Verna) Beck of St. Louis; sister-in-law Clara Abernathy of St. Louis; six  grandchildren, Eric Schwarz, Nathan Schwarz (Marla Vaughn) and Rebecca (Loring) Preston, and Philip (Jan) Belk, Lindsay (Matthew) Johnson and David (Mia) Belk; eight great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Karlye and Silas Schwarz, Kellen and Delaney Belk, Drew Johnson, and Jacie and Wyatt Vaughn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.<br /> She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edgar; and sister Myra Woehlke.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1427_1574" tabindex="0">Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant with the Rev. David Kollmeyer officiating.</span> Interment will be at Lost Prairie Cemetery.<br /> <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_1619_1784" tabindex="0">Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conant.</span><br /> Memorial donations may be made to Lost Prairie Cemetery Association, K.F.U.O.
