THE HUB OF CONVERSATION Five questions with ... Danny Shanahan of Marion

1 How have you taken advantage of the nicer days we have been having?

I enjoy taking my daughter outside to play and cleaning up around the garage.

2 President Donald Trump has now been in office for a little over a year. How would you grade his first year, using A through F?

I would grade his first year as an F due to the fact that he thinks that he has enough power and money to do what he wants. I feel sometimes he tries to make decisions without thinking how they would affect everyone, and not just him.

3 The quality of care and administrative practices at the VA Medical Center in Marion is coming under criticism by congressman Mike Bost and others. What do you think?

I think that all veterans should get the health care and anything else they need no matter what. They signed up and made the ultimate sacrifice. It's our job to make sure they are taken care of.

4 There have been a number of drive-by shootings in the region in recent weeks. How concerned are you and does it affect what you do in any way?

I am definitely concerned about the safety of my daughter and other children, but it doesn't stop us from playing outside or other outside activities. If anything, it makes me want to be even more aware of our surroundings.

5 The Super Bowl is Sunday. Are you rooting for New England or Philadelphia?

I want Philadelphia to win simply because I'm tired of watching Tom Brady win the Super Bowl.
