Nancy Bufford

Nancy (Fisher) Bufford, 75, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:04 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

She was born May 23, 1938 at Sunfield, Ill., the daughter of Lester and Mary (Morris) Fisher.

She was raised in Sunfield and attended Sunfield two-room school. She always had many stories of growing up in Sunfield and spending time at the City Lake. Nancy retired from Rockwell International in Centralia and she loved to travel. She was affectionately known to many as 'the Old Hag.'

She is survived by two daughters - Debra Melton and husband Carl of Du Quoin and Kimberly Woodside and husband Rick of Du Quoin, grandchildren - Timothy Bufford (Justine), Heather Melton (Jessica), Heath Melton (Cortney), Kandi Mensing (Kyle), Danyel McGhee Johnston (Miranda) and Charles Woodside, great grandchildren - T.J. Bufford, Elias Rios, Zayden McKeon, Kasen Mensing, Brylee Melton, Tinlee Melton and Garrett Hale, one sister - Janet Fisher of Du Quoin, one brother - Allen Fisher of Du Quoin, aunts - Fern Waidzulas and Opal Asbury, both of Du Quoin, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents - Howard and Fannie Fisher and William and Elizabeth Morris and one sister - Linda Fisher Hutchings.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Inurnment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Immediately following the service, friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon and gathering to share memories at the Melton's Cabin.

Friends may make memorials to Five Star Activity Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
