DMS plans 'Back to School Night' for students, parents

DU QUOIN - Our annual "Back to School Night" will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Please be in your student's homeroom at 6 p.m. Our homeroom teachers will have a brief presentation that will tell you what to expect in each grade level.

Following the presentations, you will be able to visit all of your student's teachers. Our homeroom teachers will also have schedules, locks, and student planners for every student that has registered. Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies and put them in their lockers so they don't have to carry those items with them on the first day of school.

I also wanted to remind everyone of our cellphone policy. Each year, students who want to have a cellphone at school must rent a cellphone pouch for $15. Their cellphone must be kept in this pouch during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., except for their lunch hour. Our homeroom teachers will have the form for this rental at our Back to School Night. You can also come into the DMS office at any time in order to get a pouch for this coming school year.
