Perry County Sheriff's Department to Host Forums Nov. 2 at Du Quoin, Pinckneyville High Schools on Heroin Awareness

Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman and Probation Department officer Beth Cassity in cooperation with the United States Attorney Stephen Wigginton will host heroin awareness forums on Friday, Nov. 2 at the Pinckneyville Community High School (10 a.m.) and the Du Quoin High School (1:45 p.m.).

Speakers will include Wendy Sharkey and Chris Duren, mothers of heroin victims who lost their children to the ravages of the drug.

In addition, the audience will see the personal cost and the impact to our community by the explosion of heroin and availability and use.

The forums are open to students, school staff members, the parents and the public.

Panel members will include Stephen Wigginton, U.S. Attorney and Mike Shah, Drug Enforcement Administration Analyst.

Local panel members in Du Quoin will include Supt. Dr. Gary Kelly, principal Matt Hickem, Sheriff Keith Kellerman, Police Chief Mike Ward, State's Attorney David Stanton, Coroner Paul Searby and Mayor John Rednour.

Local panel members in Pinckneyville will include Supt. Keith Hagene, Principal Dustin Foutch, Sheriff Keith Kellerman, Police Chief John Griffin, State's Attorney David Stanton, Coroner Paul Searby, Pinckneyville Mayor August Kellerman and Tamaroa Mayor Curtis Stube.
