Pinckneyville squads beat Carterville

PINCKNEYVILLE - Mariah Clark drove in five runs as the Pinckneyville High School softball team blasted Carterville, 11-1 in five innings, Tuesday in an SIRR Mississippi Division game.

Taylor Witges and Daisy Dudek both had three hits, while Clark had two. Lauren Jackson and Emma Banach both had two RBIs.

Dudek was also the winning pitcher. Carterville struck out just twice but only had four hits against her.

Across the way, the Pinckneyville baseball team also beat Carterville, 7-6, for its first conference win of the season.

The Panthers held an early lead behind starting pitcher Grant Jausel, who shut out the Lions for four innings. The Lions tallied all six runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at six, but the Panthers came through for the win.

Austin Alspach drove in a pair of runs in the first inning for the Panthers.
