Minor injuries in Route 150 semi rollover
A 43-year-old Murphysboro man was taken to Chester Memorial Hospital on Tuesday for treatment of minor injuries after the tractor-trailer he was driving ran off the roadway and overturned.
According to the Illinois State Police, Leslie I. Stoops Jr. was hauling coal westbound on State Route 150 near Grefe Road when the accident occurred.
The semi spilled its load along the shoulder of the westbound lane of the highway and plunged into the ditch, coming to rest on its passenger side. The accident initially closed the westbound lane of Route 150 before the highway was completely closed due to accident cleanup.
Traffic was diverted onto Chester Road at Bremen on the west end, and IDOT workers directed traffic at the Steeleville tee at the east end.
Stoops was cited for improper lane usage. The accident was reported at 8:38 a.m.
