Jackson leads the way in 3-0 win over Lady Wildcats

Mackenzie Jackson led the way for the Lady Indians from the circle and the plate as she tossed a complete-game shutout and came up with a team-high two RBI's in a 3-0 conference win over Anna-Jonesboro.
Over seven scoreless innings of work, Jackson surrendered just three hits and no walks, while fanning 13 Lady Wildcats.
The closest Anna-Jonesboro came to threatening offensively was in the bottom of the seventh inning, collecting back-to-back singles with one out to put runners on first and second.
But, Jackson went right back to her dominant performance, striking out the next two batters to seal the 3-0 win.
Offensively, the Lady Indians did more than enough to back up Jackson's performance from the circle, getting things going in the third inning.
Mayci McKinnies led the inning off with a single and Katie Smith followed up two at-bats later, reaching on a HBP to set up Jackson at the plate with runners on first and second.
Jackson capitalized, drilling a double to the right-center field gap, scoring both Smith and McKinnies to give Du Quoin the 2-0 lead.
The Lady Indians tacked on an insurance run in the top of the fifth.
Chloe Hill led off the inning with a HBP and advanced to third on a stolen base and wild pitch.
Morgan Bullar came through with two-outs, connecting on an RBI single to score Smith, proving to be more than enough offense.
With the win, the Lady Indians improve to 10-4 and 2-1 in SIRR conference play.
They will resume action Tuesday (today) with another conference matchup as they travel to take on Nashville at 4:30 p.m.
