Big second half lifts Sparta past Panthers, 30-19
PINCKNEYVILLE - The Panthers of Pinckneyville Community High School took a 13-8 lead into halftime against the visiting Sparta Bulldogs after two successful drives in the pouring rain resulted in touchdowns.
One of the scores was a 20-yard pass from Lucas Teel to Hunter Riggins. The second was the result of a bruising run by Darian Harris.
The rain subsided at the intermission, and the Bulldogs took advantage.
They used two sideline fly routes and a long quarterback run for second-half touchdowns to rally past the Panthers, 30-19. The Teel to Riggins combination accounted for the Panthers' lone score of the second half.
With the loss, PCHS falls to 0-4 and will travel across the county this Friday to take on the 4-0 Du Quoin Indians.
Darian Harris pounds across the goal line for the Panthers' second touchdown against Sparta.
