Christ Our Savior hosts middle school academic competition

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On Thursday March 17, Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School was pleased to host its 3rd Annual Scholar Bowl Day for area schools, grades 6-8. This day of academic competition included a Science Bowl, a Math Bowl, Spelling Bees and Geography Bees. Seven teams representing area schools were comprised of up to 12 students from grades 6 to 8. John Christman, principal of COS, said, "Since academic excellence is a focus for Christ Our Savior, it is natural for us to celebrate this distinction in other schools as well. We are excited to give these young people an opportunity to "shine.""

After earning points for each competition, the totals for the day placed Trinity Lutheran School in 4th place, St. John's Lutheran from Red Bud in 3rd, St. John the Baptist Catholic from Red Bud in 2nd and Prairie du Rocher won the 1st place All-Around School Trophy. Prairie du Rocher school was represented by 6th graders: Elliot Clerc, Alex Suhre, Austin DeRousse, and Chelsea Blissenbach, 7th graders: Tyler Jones, Abby Becker, Bre Elms, and Vincent Gonzalez, 8th graders: Malynda Donjon, Makayela Johnson, Kayla Young, Dillon Zimmer. St. John the Baptist Catholic was represented by 6th graders: Lily Poirrier, Frederick Grohmann, Nick Wittenauer, Clay Gilpin, 7th graders: Riley Menard, Jeff Demond, Alex Becker, Cory Steibel, Brian Deterding, and Morgan Bollinger, and 8th graders: Brandyn Fadler and Troy Hentis. St. John's Lutheran from Red Bud was represented by 6th graders: Cami White and Brenden Heller, 7th graders: Michael Miller, Nick Steckmesser, Mathew Nebel, and Jared Schneider, and 8th graders: Elizabeth Moll, Adam Quinn, and Nathan DeRousse. Trinity Lutheran School was represented by 6th graders: Stefan Bauer, Justin Prost, Kendra Shepard, Matthew Fehr, and Krista Wandro, 7th graders: Evan McDaniel, Elizabeth Koester, and Amy Sachowski and 8th graders: Joshua Roscow and Todd Salger.

Those who finished with individual first place ribbons in the Math Bowl: Evan McDaniel, Justin Prost, Todd Salger and Stefan Bauer. In Science Bowl: Alex Suhre, Elliot Clerc, Tyler Jones and Dillon Zimmer. In the Spelling Bees: Brenden Heller, Cami White, Corey Steibel, Alex Becker, Trey Hentis and Brandyn Fadler. In Geography Bees: Alex Suhre, Elliot Clerc, Joel Rahlfs, Britton Couchman, Aubrie Spinka, and Mya Grimm.
