MHS girls tracksters third at conference meet
MARION - The Marion High School girls track and field team hosted the South Seven Conference Championship Meet on Tuesday evening at the Crisp Sports Complex.
The Lady Wildcats compiled 95 points to place third behind Carbondale (187) and Centralia (101) but ahead of Belleville Althoff (69), Cahokia (53) and Mt. Vernon (43).
Marion's only conference champion was pole vaulter Sophia Arnold, who won that event with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches. Olivia Hartwell was third at 7 feet in the same event.
Mari Ray placed in the top three in two events. Ray took second in the 3,200 meters at 12:29.68 and was third in the 1,600 at 5:49.82.
Also placing in the top three individually were Addi Wall in the high jump at 4-8 and Maryiah Menicucci in the shot put at 35-11.25.
Marion's 1,600 relay placed second in 4:17.30.
