Ardis Jean Howell
Ardis Jean Howell, age 81, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in her home.
Ardis was born on Nov. 26, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter to Algot E. and Alice R. (Ralphs) Anderson. On June 6, 1951, she married Charles R. "Dick" Howell in Salt Lake City, Utah and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1997. Ardis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Steeleville, Ill., where she was very active in church activities including playing the organ and accordion and serving on a mission with her church. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress working for Rodell's for 20 years and out of her home as well. Ardis attended Utah State University, was a member of H.E.A and enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, John (Ellen) Howell of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Bill (Laura) Howell of Benton, Ky.; one brother, Kay (Lucille) Anderson of Nampa, Idaho; sister-in-law, Betty Smull of Niantic, Ill.; six grandchildren, Michael (Ashlee) Howell, Melissa (Mike) Higgerson, Mark Howell, Natalie Howell, Jack Howell and Dane Howell; four great-grandchildren, Kinlee Howell, Parker Higgerson, Jackson Higgerson and Daniel Howell and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one great grandchild, Dalton Howell.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with President Larry Weller officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
