Helen Faye Norris

Helen Faye Norris, age 85, of Hueytown, Ala., formerly of Du Quoin, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Self Healthcare and Rehab Center, Hueytown, Ala.

Helen was born on Nov. 25, 1927 in Chester, Ill., a daughter to Harley and Myrtle (Rackley) Beard. On July 31, 1948, she married Harold Norris in Corinth, Miss. and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2012 after 63 years of marriage. Helen was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Du Quoin, Ill., and Hueytown First United Methodist Church, Hueytown, Ala. She loved sewing and quilting and was a member of Old Du Quoin Homemakers.

Helen is survived by two sons, Robert (Donna) Norris of Hueytown, Ala. and Edward (Kay) Norris of Auburn, Ill.; one daughter, Donna (Leo) Weis of Old Du Quoin, Ill.; two brothers, Charles (Anita) Beard of Marion, Ill. and Bobby Beard of Holtz Summit, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Beard of St. Ann, Mo. and Katherine Norris of Du Quoin, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Cassandra (Darren) Cole of Burke, Va., Laura (Russel) Gibbons of Bloomington, Ill., Mike (Amy) Weis of Belleville, Ill., Shawn (Michelle) Norris of Bentonville, Ark., Travis (Jennifer) Norris of Hueytown, Ala., Trevor Norris of Hueytown, Ala. and Cathleen Norris of Hueytown, Ala.; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren in infancy; two sisters, Margaret Ward and Lillian Ward; two brothers-in-law, Ed Ward and Russel Ward; one brother, Donald Beard; one sister-in-law, Donna Beard and one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Norris.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Harvey Sullins officiating. Interment will be in Old Du Quoin Cemetery, Du Quoin, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
