William H. Webber Jr.

William H. "Bill" Webber Jr., age 87, of Pinckneyville, Ill. passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 9:43 p.m. in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, Ill.

Bill was born on May 28, 1926 in Mt. Vernon, Ill., a son to William H. and Bertha M. (Boyle) Webber Sr. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. On April 24, 1950, he married Mildred "Millie" Kabat in Scheller, Ill. and she survives. He worked as a specialty advertising salesman for Goldman Associates for over 30 years. In his lifetime, Bill was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. where he served on their Parish Council, the Lion's Club, Pinckneyville, Ill., the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce where he was very instrumental in the early days of the Pinckneyville Mardi Gras. He had also served on the Pinckneyville Library Board, Pinckneyville Community Hospital Board, St. Bruno Catholic School Board and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He was an avid golfer and loved his Canada fishing trips.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Millie Webber of Pinckneyville, Ill.; three daughters, Donna Markotay (Rick Reese) of Pinckneyville, Ill., Connie (Dr. Tim) Mathis of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Barbara (Deon) Johnston of Pinckneyville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Lexie (Russell) King, Travis (Katie) Markotay, Sarah (Daniel) Valter, Mason Mathis, Holly (Josh) Heisner and Hillary and Haley Johnston and five great-grandchildren, Anna Markotay, Sadie King, Max King, Sebestyeń Valter and McKinley Heisner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gladys Shields.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Augustine Ibezimako officiating. Interment will be in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites by Presswood-Daffron American Legion Post #2504, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Caring & Sharing Thrift Shop, Pinckneyville, Ill.
