Dominic D. Zmudzinski

Dominic D. Zmudzinski, 89, of Du Bois, passed away at 5:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville.

He retired in November 1984 as a contract pumper from numerous independent oil producers and two major oil companies. He had also worked for Bell Aircraft in New York, had been a sub mail carrier and worked at Bois Coal Co. He enjoyed gardening and growing flowers especially many beautiful roses. He was a high school graduate and had several vocational courses.

He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois and had been a member of AAA since 1963.

He was born Dec. 3, 1922 at Scheller, Ill. the son of Frank and Martha (Kujawski) Zmudzinski.

Dominic married Elizabeth "Betty" Kretz on Oct. 19, 1957 at Christopher, Ill. and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2002.

He is survived by a sister- Tillie (Mike) Czerwinski of Scheller and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters- Julia(Ted) Kabat, Sophia (Leonard) Ratajczyk, Salomae (Eugene) Hoffman, brother- August "Gus" (Amanda) Zmudzinski and several nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.

Should family and friends desire mass offerings or donation to the St. Charles Church Renovation Fund will be accepted at the funeral home.
