Dorothy J. Gallmeister
Dorothy J. Gallmeister, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.
Dorothy had been a homemaker and had worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper at the Du Quoin Evening Call from 1977 until 2007. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, a member of the church choir for many years and a member of BYKOTA Sunday School Class. Dorothy was a member of Rebekah Hope Lodge, Eastern Star and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was also the last living member of Illinois ZETA Masters of Beta Sigma Phi.
She was born Feb. 3, 1929 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of James E. and Mabel Ellen (Yates) Sawyer.
She married Gene F. Gallmeister on June 29, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters - Jean Ellen Bullock and husband Mark of Du Quoin and Debbie DeMent and husband Randy of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Blake Edward Bullock of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tyler Daniel Bullock and wife Jami of Du Quoin, Jacob DeMent and wife Alex of Herrin and Deann Morgenstern and husband Paul of Du Quoin, a great granddaughter and a great grandson are due in May.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
