Marion boys, girls second at Mount Vernon quadrangular

MOUNT VERNON - The Marion High School boys' cross country team placed second Tuesday at a quadrangular meet hosted by Mount Vernon. Centralia finished first with 22 team points. The Wildcats followed with 40 points. Carbondale was third with 74 points and the host Rams were fourth with no team score. Lower scores are the better scores in cross country.

Top individual finisher for the Wildcats was Benja Stone. He was seventh overall with a time of 17:26. Teammate Logan Morgan was eighth in 17:27. Isaac Donaldson was 10th in 18:08. Jack Gregory was one place back with an 11th-place finish in 18:10.

Peyton Craig followed with 12th in 18:12. Caleb Flesch was 16th in 18:37. Steven Kosco was 19th in 18:43. Noah Walters was 23rd in 19:52. Sean Hudspath was 24th in 20:07. Noah Gulley was 26th in 20:13. Rover Doss was 28th in 20:43. Kyle Sweeney was 29th in 21:11.

Wesley Smith was 20th in 21:21. Joey Tyka was 32nd in 22:07. Cruz Grinnell was 33rd in 22:26. Keenan Williams was 34th in 22:27. Zach Oates was 36th in 24:59. Tyler Bundren was 37th in 30:36.

In the girls' race, Marion was second to Carbondale. The Terriers tallied 19 team points to the Wildcaats' 48.

Mari Ray was third overall for Marion with a time of 21:07. Carbondale's Madeline Prideaux 19:06 and Anna Schurz (19:36) were first and second.

Isis Williams was seventh for the Wildcats at 23:14. MaKenzie Miller was 12th in 24:34. Lexi Basi was 14th in 25:50. Sydney Williams was 18th in 27:06. Krysten Tackett was 19th in 27:24. Karmarzhea McMillen was 20th in 27:25.
