Rosalee Claudie Austin

MURPHYSBORO - Rosalee Austin, 80, went to meet Jesus on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1939, to Claude and Rosine Foster in Anna, Illinois.

Rosalee married Robert L. Austin on Jan. 29, 1961 at DeSoto Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2005.

Mrs. Austin was a member of the Murphysboro Senior Citizens Center, and the Kitchen Band. She was an avid music lover and piano player. She enjoyed playing the piano for the seniors at the local nursing homes and she played at the Chestnut Café in DeSoto.

She also had a love for animals, having rescued up to 7 dogs.

She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Hall of Carterville, Illinois; one granddaughter, Shannon Austin Hall of Carterville; grandson Alex Austin Hall of Carterville; her dog Boomer Ang Austin; two brothers, Dick Foster and Jerry Foster, both of Carbondale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Robert "Rob" Dale Austin.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to any "no kill" animal shelter.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Her body will be laid to rest at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
