Audrey R. Manis

Audrey R. Manis, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:52 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Audrey was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and was the W.M.U. Director at the church. She had worked with children at the church for 50 years and was a member of the Ruth Sunshine Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Girls Friday (Home Extension) and National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary. Audrey enjoyed crafting, quilting and crocheting afghans.

She was born June 11, 1922 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of L. Stanley and Nellie Jane (Moore) Baxter.

She married James D. Manis on July 8, 1945 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on Dec.19, 2007.

She is survived by one son - James D. Manis Jr. of Valley View, Pa., one daughter - Nancy J. Bauman of Osprey, Fla., grandchildren - Addie Manis who is a visual effects producer in Los Angeles, Calif., Nellie Manis who is studying in Russia on a Fulbright Scholarship from Champaign, Ill. and Charlie Manis who is a PhD candidate at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister - Dorothy Adcock.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
