Rita J. Martin

Rita J. Martin, 95, of Du Quoin, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at her home at 221 W. Franklin St. in Du Quoin with her family at her side.

Rita was born on June 11, 1919 on a farm northeast of Vergennes, a daughter to Herman and Mary (Endres) Eisenhauer.

She attended Porter Valley Rural School, northeast of Vergennes. Later she attended Sacred Heart School in Du Quoin.

She married Charles J. Martin on Oct. 29, 1942 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

While Chuck was in the service, she worked as a seamstress at the Pinckneyville Garment Factory. She later ironed for others, made aprons, worked at Alongi's BBQ stand at the Du Quoin Fair and later became a cook for the school district in Du Quoin.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Sacred Heart Quilters and the Sacred Heart School PTA for 30 years. She enjoyed family parties, quilting, playing pinochle with friends and watching her families' sport and social events. She was a devoted Du Quoin Indian fan and Cardinal baseball fan. Her favorite player was Yadier Molina.

Survivors include daughter Carol Isaacs of Pinckneyville, her children are Ann Myers and husband Ed of Waterloo and their children, Caleb, Brendan, Dylan and Regan McCoy, step children - Ashley and Kristin Myers of Edwardsville; Caleb's wife Andrea and children Holly Mattingly and Natalie McCoy of Affton, son Michael Isaacs and wife Jennifer of Waterloo and their children Drew, Alec and Ayden; Brett Isaacs and wife Shelly of Freeburg and their children, Jake, Luke and Olivia; Julie Isaacs Malawy and husband Chad of Nashville and their children Cole and Jack Thomas.

Daughter Kay Baker and husband Steve of Du Quoin and their four sons: Stacy Maguire and wife Kerry of Belleville, Ill. and their children Darby Maguire of Belleville and Jessica Maguire of Springfield, Ill.; Martin Maguire and wife Andrea of Franklin, Tenn. with their children Mackinley, Andrew and Madeline; Patrick Maguire and wife Jennifer of Mt. Horeb, WI and their children Molly, Megan and Zachary; Michael Baker of Carbondale, Ill. and his children Kendall, Reilly and Brock of Johnston City, Ill., three daughters Tess Rumble and husband David of Cynthiana, Ind. and their children twins Hannah and Jacob and Josh; Carrie Higgerson and husband Nathan of Waterloo and their children Grant and twins Claire and Lydia; Stephanie McCurren and husband Josh and their children Camryn and Carter Maloney and Caleb and Colin McCurren of Christopher, Ill.

Son David Martin and wife Jenny of Du Quoin with children Shonna and husband Jeff Spencer of Du Quoin with their children Alexandra, her daughters Lucy and MaKenna; son Jonah, Cameron and Blayke; Jennifer Martin and Grace of Du Quoin; Andrea Martin and fiance Tim Hawthorne their children Jaxson and Hatty and special friend Steve Dotson of DeSoto.

Son Al Martin and wife Sharon of Du Quoin with sons Zebulon and wife Erynn of Lafayette, Colo. and their daughters Adi and Lola; Joel of Pinckneyville and Simon of Seattle, Wash.

Daughter Mary Beth Lane and husband Joe of Du Quoin, their children Sarah, husband Blake Furlow and sons Elijah, Wyatt and are expecting another son in June; daughters Bethany and Carlie all of Du Quoin.

Rita was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother - Robert M. and sister-in-law - Annabelle Eisenhauer, son-in-law - Howard Isaacs and grandson - Keith McCoy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to Masses or Sacred Heart Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
