Zimmerman tosses gem, Indians win

ANNA - Alex Zimmerman tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout to lead the Du Quoin High School baseball team to a 1-0 victory over Anna-Jonesboro on the road Monday.

"Alex threw an absolutely fantastic game on the mound," said Du Quoin coach Kyle Geiger.

Hank Stewart drove in the decisive run with a double in the sixth inning that plated Tevin Lee, who along with Ashton Smith had the Indians' other hits.

Du Quoin is now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the SIRR Mississippi Division.

Du Quoin was scheduled to host Nashville on Tuesday, Z-R-C on Wednesday and Carterville on Thursday this week.
