Local youth place in 4-H horse show

Local 4-H members in Jackson, Perry and Randolph counties recently participated in the annual horse show.

The 4-H horse projects and activities provide a hands-on opportunity for youth to explore raising and showing horses while developing life skills.

With the constant rain in the region, the outdoor arena could not be used for the show. Katelan Eddleman at the Shawnee Arena and Stables stepped in and allowed the group to use their space so the event could go on as scheduled. The event was judged by Alexis Rodgers, and the following individuals received awards:

• Grand Champion: Amber Gass

• Junior Showmanship: Amber Gass

• Reserve Grand Champion: Madison Bennett

• Senior Showmanship: Shealee Swisher
