Helen Bird Reinhardt

Helen Bird Reinhardt, 82, of Pinckneyville, passed from this world at 11:20 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at the Pinckneyville Health Care Center.

She was born March 9, 1931 to Herbert and Angelina (Ruffino) Bird in Perry County, Ill. She married Harvey F. Reinhardt on Sept. 24, 1950; he passed away Sept. 28, 1974.

Left to mourn her passing are her son, Herbert A. Reinhardt of Pinckneyville; two daughters, Donna (Daryl) Cashion of Du Quoin and Kimberly D. Reinhardt of Pinckneyville; a brother, Erwin 'Butch' Bird and a sister, Barbara Weslen; four grandchildren, Darnell (Amy) Cashion of Du Quoin, Rebecca (Jason Thompson of Mount Vernon, John Reinhardt and his companion, Poppi, of Pinckneyvlle and Daniel (Lauren) Cashion of Du Quoin; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsay Cashion of Du Quoin, Tehya Thompson of Mount Vernon, Drayke, Karah and Mallory Cashion of Du Quoin, Hannah and Mia Thompson of Mount Vernon.

Her parents; husband, Harvey; a sister, Eleanor, and two brothers-in-law, Leroy Lunneman and James Weslen, preceded her in death.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Pinckneyville. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She worked at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in housekeeping and laundry. She also worked at Pinckneyville Health Care Center in the kitchen, laundry and activities until her retirement.

She loved her family and her grandchildren. They loved her and will miss her dearly. They all swear she made the best chicken and dumplings and potato salad.

Mrs. Reinhardt was cremated. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mueller Hill Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ on Jan. 4, 2014 at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank those at Pinckneyville Health Care Center for their care and the love they expressed for their mother in her last days.
