Loren E. Teel

Loren E. Teel, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Loren had worked as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service for 37 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. Loren was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and had served in the 453 MP EG CO as a Tec 4. He served in Northern France and Rhineland. Loren received three Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and National Association of Letter Carriers.

He was born May 16, 1924 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Franklin Harrison and Annie (Massey) Teel.

He married Betty Lue Provart on Sept. 19, 1943 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1986. Loren then married Ruth Striker on Nov. 18, 1987 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Nancy Croessmann and husband Allen of Madison, N.J., one son - Brian Teel and wife Virginia of Colorado Springs, Colo., one step son - Roger Striker and wife Barbara of Osceola, Fla., one brother - Dwight Teel of Wales, Wis., four grandchildren - Alison Schrag, Ross Croessmann, Heather Mavel and Brandon Teel, six great grandchildren - Jackson Schrag, Drew Croessmann, Page Croessmann, Jude Mavel, Spencer Croessmann and Nate Schrag and one step granddaughter - Dawn Roberts and husband Ken of San Diego, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three brothers - Norman, Clifford and Howard, and three sisters - Flora, Pearl and Edna.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Terry Brace officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
