<div class="PlainText">William "Bill" Combs, 89, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away April 12, 2017, in Zephyrhills.<br /> A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Thonotosassa, Fla. <span class="contextualExtensionHighlight ms-font-color-themePrimary ms-border-color-themePrimary ident_217_287" tabindex="0">Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mike Grover will officiate.</span> Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Bushnell.<br /> Mr. Combs was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Elk Township to Willis Combs and Marie Falkenberry Combs. On July 3, 1950, he married Norma McCollum. He was a graduate of St. Louis Christian College. He worked as a coal mine safety inspector for Consolidated Coal Company for 34 years, serving on the mine rescue team in all the mines he worked at. He also worked 14 years at various banks and 12 years at Publix grocery stores for a total of 60 working years. Mr. Combs was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His service in the Army extended from the end of World War II and into the Korean War. He was highly involved in church leadership at various churches, a church plant at Village Green in St. Petersburg, Fla., and began active senior ministries in the churches he attended.<br /> He was preceded in death by brothers Roy, who gave his life in World War II, Floyd (John) and Harry; and a sister, Mildred Wisely.<br /> Bill is survived by his wife, Norma Combs; children Terry Combs (Debbie) of Keysport, Ill., Kathy Combs of Zephyrhills and Harry Combs (Phyllis) of Lutz, Florida; grandchildren Caleb Combs (Stephanie) of Clearwater, Fla., and Kelsey Glesenkamp (Kenny) of Largo, Fla.; and a sister, Ilene Little.<br /> Memorials may be given to St. Louis Christian College or Johnson University Florida.</div>
