Cheryl Ann Funk
Cheryl Ann Funk, 65, of Elkville passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Cheryl was the bookkeeper for Funks Farms and a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Royalton and the St. Ann's Altar Sodality. She was also a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau Women's Committee and the FSA Committee.
She was born Feb. 22, 1948 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of James A. and Elizabeth M. (Boros) VanZandt.
Cheryl married John W. Funk on July 9, 1966 at the Sacred Heart Church in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Elkville, her mother- Elizabeth M. VanZandt of Dowell, four children- Trenton Funk and wife Alison of Elkville, Stefani Hasselbring and husband Doug of Georgetown, Ind., Toni Kay Wright and husband Stacey of Carterville and Christa Thompson and husband Aaron of Vergennes. The love of her life was her grandchildren- Tyler Funk, Clayton Funk, Reese Funk, Hadley Hasselbring, Harper Hasselbring, Brayden Wright, Camden Wright, Maddax Thompson and Anniston Thompson. She is also survived by her sister- Kay VanZandt of Carterville, brothers- Russ VanZandt of Du Quoin and Brett VanZandt of Herrin, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Royalton with Fr. Trevor Murry officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Cemetery at Royalton.
Friends may make memorials to the St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
