Marion Garden Club, along with garden clubs belonging to District VII of Garden Clubs of Illinois, celebrated National Garden Week June 3 to 10.
The week started out at Marion City Hall with Mayor Bob Butler signing the National Garden Week proclamation. This was on display at city hall, along with an informational poster about Marion Garden Club activities, awards that were received by the club, and craft items made from natural products. The proclamation will soon be on display at Marion Carnegie Library.
The club also made financial donations to the library, Williamson County Historical Society and Habitat for Humanity.
Club members will soon be finished cleaning up and planting flower beds at the parks and Williamson County Fairground. Planters at the Marion swimming pool and historical society were filled in May and will be maintained by their staff.
The week ended with the annual garden tour, which included five homes and fairground beds.
