WSIL will televise Bald Knob Cross sunrise Easter service

For the first time in 84 years, the public is not invited to the Easter Sunrise Service being held April 12 atop Bald Knob Mountain in Alto Pass.

Due to the current COVID-19 stay-at-home order, however, the service will be televised on WSIL-TV Channel 3 and livestreamed from WSIL TV website and Facebook page.

The sunrise service will begin at 6:15 a.m. Sunrise will be at approximately 6:26 a.m.

The 111-foot cross on Bald Knob is celebrating its 57th birthday, having been completed in 1963.

Organizers are asking the public to not come to Bald Knob Cross on Easter morning, as you will be turned away.

For the people directly involved in the service or its broadcast, all CDC guidelines will be respected, including social distancing.
