Pet of the week: This Rottweiler mix likes kids

"Hello ... Archie here! I am a 4-year-old Rottweiler mix who weighs about 60 pounds. I am here after my owners gave me up. There were too many of us and we had to go.

"This place is nice, but I would love a place to call home with a couch, carpet, snacks and great people.

"I know my special someone is out there somewhere! I get along well with other dogs. I like kids, but sometimes I forget and jump on them, so I need to be taught not to do this, or just be with older kids."

Archie appears to be housebroken. His energy level is high, and he gets along with other dogs, but not with cats.

His adoption fee is $175.

Please know that if you come to meet any of the dogs at our facility, they may be excited to see you and extra active. Many times, this is not a true picture of how they may act in a warm, safe home setting.

We, as volunteers, often take our shelter dogs on home visits and they become calm and act like completely different animals. This pertains to bathroom habits and demeanor. Please realize they need a chance to shine out of the shelter setting!

If you have any specific questions about Archie, email the shelter volunteer at pchsinfo@yahoo.com or go to www.perrycountyhumanesocietyil.com to apply.
