Elverado Boosters, PTO to host 'Back to School Bash' Friday

ELKVILLE - The Elverado Boosters and PTO are hosting their first "Back to School Bash" this Friday evening, Aug. 16, at the Elverado High School football field in Elkville.

The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m., with food and drinks being available at 5.

"D J Max," Christine Snyder, and Scott Slone will emcee and provide music during the evening. All registered Elverado students in attendance will receive free Falcon-themed items. Beth Thompson of State Farm Insurance, McDonald's, Short Enterprises Inc., and Murphy-Wall State Bank & Trust will also have "freebies" to give away, along with prizes for games.

Kathy Yates and Teri Rice, Presidents of the Boosters and PTO, would like to thank all sponsors for supporting this event.

Representatives of Murphy-Wall State Bank will also purchase and cook the hot dogs. Buns have been donated by Sav A Lot of Du Quoin; ice cream by Prairie Farms; soft drinks donated by Heartland Coca-Cola; and Dollar General and Walmart are providing paper goods, water, chips, popcorn and condiments.

There will be games for all ages, a 50/50 raffle and merchandise raffle, bounce houses, teachers' tug-of-war, community fire trucks, K-9 officers and other fun stuff.

Also, the coaches will introduce the Elverado Junior High and High School fall girls and boys sports teams. The villages of Dowell, Elkville and Vergennes, along with Modern Woodmen Insurance (Nathan Shupe), Elverado Education Foundation and the Elk Township have all provided funds for the perfect Falcons Pride Night!

We are hoping all students and parents in our district will come and celebrate a great upcoming 2019-2020 school year! There is still time if anyone would like to donate or participate this Friday night. Please contact Robert Cavitt at 618-521-6528 or email him at rsdlcavitt@yahoo.com.
