SPRINGFIELD -- Victoria Shore assured her place on the stage in June's Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen pageant over the weekend when she was crowned Miss Capital City's Outstanding Teen 2020 in Springfield.
The Springfield pageant, held on Nov. 30 at the Ansar Shrine, the sponsor of the event, is a preliminary to the June state pageant that will be held in Marion.
Shore's platform is "My GIRL Agenda," a call to action initiative sponsored by the Girl Scout of the USA.
Shore is currently working on her Gold Award, the highest award for Girl Scouts. Her project is a leadership retreat for girls entitled "Lead Like a GIRL." It will be held at the Drury Inn in Marion in June and is sponsored by Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Shore sang "A Change in Me" from the musical "Beauty and the Beast" as her talent for the pageant.
She also won the People's Choice award.
Shore, a junior at Marion High School, was first runner up to the Miss Illinois Outstanding teen the previous two years.
