Fourth annual Harrison Bruce Historical Village Christmas Stroll happens Sunday

CARTERVILLE - The 4th Annual Harrison Bruce Historical Village Christmas Stroll on the campus of JALC is set for Sunday, Dec. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Each of the historical structures will Ddck their halls for public viewing. Music will float inside and outside in The Village. St. Nicholas will be on hand. Cider and Cookies will be served in the Mees Center.

The Square Grand piano - The Chickering - will be in concert with pianist Henry Nicolaides in the front parlor of The Harrison House. Children from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School will sing in Purdy School under the direction of music teacher Christy Allen and a trio of singers from OLMC Church will perform in the Dog Trot Cabin.

Crafts for children, refreshments and a gathering place will be available in The Mees Center. Heritage Gardeners will have free seed packets for visitors.

The afternoon stroll is free. Bring a camera for holiday pictures. Parking is available in the college parking lots.

Docents dressed in period costumes will be on hand to welcome visitors and give short tours of each structure in The Village.

Docent Carla Coppi is the Stroll Chair.

The Village has had over 5,000 visitors since its dedication in April 2012. It is one of the only historic villages on site at Illinois Community Colleges.
