Wynonna thrills Saline County

SALINE COUNTY - International country and gospel music legend Wynonna Judd thrilled music fans Wednesday night at a concert at Saline County Fairgrounds.

Wynonna was joined by her husband, Cactus Moser, for an acoustic set that entertained the crowd of about 1,000. The concert was a benefit for Coleman Tri-County Services organized by Lisa Knight.

Saline County Board member Wes Sherrod said the success of the concert shows that similar future events can be successful.

"There's a lot of support for this in the community," Sherrod said. "People are excited."

Knight, the event organizer, said she was pleased with the turnout despite having to limit crowd size.

"We didn't sell to capacity because of COVID, but it was a great night," she said. "Wynonna was a huge hit and everyone seemed to enjoy the concert. She drew people in and was very personable. She talked to the crowd, and responded when people shouted out. It was like she was in her living room doing the concert just for them."

Knight also said support of the community made the show a success.

"We want to thank the community, and Harrisburg, for their support. The businesses really got behind us and backed us, and that's what it takes."

She also said due to the success of the event, other concerts may be in the near future.

"I don't think this is going to be our last," she said.
