Monday morning crash results in injuries

HARRISBURG - Two people suffered injuries in a three-car crash at about 7:55 a.m. Monday at the intersection of East Sloan Street and U.S. 45 in Harrisburg, according to an Illinois State Police District 19 news release.

According to the release, Kaylin Potts, 24, of Harrisburg, was driving a blue 2007 Saturn Vue had been traveling east on Sloan Street approaching U.S. 45 and had stopped at a stop light with U.S. 45. At about the same time, Christopher Summers, 33, of Jackson, Missouri, was driving a maroon 2020 Peterbilt truck-tractor semitrailer combination north on U.S. 45 approaching Sloan Street. Also at about the same time, Ian Dewitt, 29, of Makanda, was traveling west on Sloan Street in a black 2009 Honda Pilot and was stopped at U.S. 45, waiting to turn right.

According to the news release, after stopping at the stop light, Potts proceeded through the stop light, striking Summers' semi. Potts' vehicle continued and struck Dewitt's vehicle.

Potts was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Dewitt was taken by Harrisburg Police Department to an area hospital with minor injuries. Summers and a passenger in Dewitt's vehicle, 54-year-old Jon Dewitt of Dongola, reported no injuries.

Potts was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
