Starting July 1, the Jackson Growth Alliance will have a new executive director, Dr. Brian Chapman.
"We are thrilled to bring Brian on board as the new JGA executive director to represent Jackson County and take the lead of our economic development goals locally and regionally," said Brooke Guthman, board chair.
Chapman is the current executive director for regional and intergovernmental affairs with SIUC and is set to retire July 1. He was born and raised in Campbell Hill and has three degrees from SIUC.
" I'm excited to have the opportunity to partner with him and JGA as we work together to bring more opportunity to all residents of Jackson County," said Steven Mitchell, economic development director for the city of Carbondale and Jackson Growth Alliance board member.
Chapman is an advocate for public service and is active in his community.
"My wife and I made a conscious decision to move back to Jackson County to work and raise a family," he said. "We have some of the best schools, health care and recreation in the Midwest, and to top if off, great friends and neighbors. It's important to me to step up and try to do my part for the next generation to enjoy the same blessings I've experienced."
Jackson Growth Alliance is a cooperative effort among government, university and business leaders in Jackson County to promote economic development.
