Charlotte Hoffman of Pinckneyville

PINCKNEYVILLE - Charlotte Hoffman, 86, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Charlotte was born on March 27, 1933, in Perry County, a daughter to George Thomas and Lottie May (Wheatley) Hawkins.

Charlotte married Paul "Dean" Hoffman on Sept. 3, 1949 in Osceloa, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2011 after 62 years of marriage.

Charlotte was a homemaker and a member of the First Pentecostal Church, Pinckneyville. She was a student of The Word, a great prayer warrior and was very active in the Ladies Ministry at the church. Charlotte was a fabulous cook and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was one of the most important things in her life.

Survivors include four daughters, Jo Ella (Gary) Day of Sandwich, Illinois, Jean (Richard) Lucas of Tokyo, Japan, Jane (Mark) Cottrill of Bourbon, Indiana and Janet Hoffman of Pinckneyville; eight grandchildren, Hollie Day, Jeremy (Cassie) Day, Shannon (Brian) Kasputis, Matthew (Brandie) Cottrill, Nathan (Kayla) Cottrill, Timothy (Amede) Lucas, Andrew (Cassandra) Lucas and Jason Lucas; 12 great-grandchildren, Carter, Madison, Dylan, Delaney, Morgan, Mason, Adeline, Judah, Levi, Charlotte, Blair and Amelia; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul "Dean" Hoffman; one brother, Leslie Hawkins; three sisters, Dorothy Rich, Lillian Conaway and Wanda Hayes; and a dear niece, Billie Mae Pulke.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the First Pentecostal Church in Pinckneyville with the Revs. J. Mark Harris, Sr., Mark Cottrill and Richard Lucas officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9-10 a.m. on Sunday.
