Lawrence R. Jany, 91, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:04 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.
He was born to the late Roman Frank and Stephanie (nee Bert) Jany on Sept. 1, 1928 in Chester.
Lawrence married Roberta Pearl Casetta on Sept. 6, 1952 in Chester, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2017.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Road District for 33 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester, and Chester VFW Post #3553. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing and training dogs.
Survivors include his six children, Steven (Donna) Jany, Patricia Nehrt, Robert (Mary) Jany, Timothy (Michelle) Jany, Debra Jany (Dennis Guethle) and Teresa (Neil) Miller; seven siblings, Mildred Gregory, Delbert Jany, Irene Hartman, Melvin (Rose) Jany, Judy (Bernie) Hubert, Lucille Jany and Carolyn Sue (David) Powell; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jany and Nedra Jany1; brother-in-law William Robb; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Donald, Andrew, Edward, Herman and George Jany; two sisters, Helen Mennerich and Dorothy Casetta; and two grandsons, Joshua Jany and Carl Glasco.
The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester, officiated by the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 and again from 7:30-10 a.m. on Wednesday, both at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Cemetery Fund.
