Edna M. Franklin (nee Alexander), 85, of Tilden, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Sparta Community Hospital in Sparta, Illinois.

She was born on July 14, 1934 in Caseyville, Illinois.

Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tilden. She was the first president of the Tilden Public Library. She served on the board of directors of the WMU.

Edna liked working on genealogy. She also liked quilting, canning jam, cooking and collecting recipe books. Edna also loved listening to country and gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Edna (nee Harrison) Alexander. Her husband was the Rev. Wilbur "Web" Franklin Sr., whom she married on May 11, 1951 in Paragould, Arkansas and who passed away on April 15, 2018.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters and one niece.

Edna is survived by her children, Wilbur Franklin Jr. of Tilden, Robert (Tammy) Franklin of Willisville, Illinois and Cynthia (Pat) Jones of Marissa, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Stacie (Jason) Henson, Jeff Franklin, Maegan (Chris) Tombrella, William Franklin, Ashleigh Franklin, Dustin Krzyzanoski and Krystal Krzyzanoski; and eight great-grandchildren, Asher Henson, Mabrey Tombrella, Myles Franklin, Erin Franklin, Caden Finks, Lacy Finks, Lilly Finks and Kayla Pence.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Tilden Teen Sunday school class or the First Baptist Church in Tilden.

For visitation, friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, both at the First Baptist Church in Tilden.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24 at the First Baptist Church in Tilden, with the Rev. Paul Hahn officiating.

Interment will follow at Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta.
